Welcome to FlashCut — the AI-powered highlight creator that automatically identifies and clips the best moments from your videos. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share information when you use our mobile application.

By downloading or using FlashCut, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use and contact us for data removal.

We collect the following categories of information to deliver our services:

Every piece of data we collect serves a specific, legitimate purpose:

• Authenticate your identity securely via Firebase Authentication
• Process uploaded videos through our AI engine to detect and extract highlight clips
• Store processed highlights and thumbnails in your personal library on our Oracle server
• Send you notifications about completed projects and app updates (only if you enable them)
• Diagnose technical issues and improve app stability
• Personalise your experience based on the in-app settings you configure
• Respond to support requests you initiate with our team

FlashCut uses two complementary infrastructure components to keep your data secure:

• Firebase Authentication (Google): Handles sign-in securely. We never store raw passwords — Firebase manages credential hashing entirely.
• Oracle Cloud Server + Oracle Database: All project data, video files, highlight clips, and user records are stored on our dedicated Oracle infrastructure, giving us full control over data residency and access policies.
• All data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.2+ and at rest with AES-256 encryption
• Server access is restricted to authorised personnel only, with audit logging enabled
• App preferences (theme, notifications) are stored locally on your device and never transmitted
• You can delete your projects and account at any time directly from within the app

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data is shared only in these limited circumstances:

• Firebase (Google): Used solely for authentication. Google receives only the information required to verify your identity and does not use it for advertising.
• Oracle Cloud: Hosts our server and database. Oracle is contractually bound to protect your data and does not access it for their own purposes.
• Legal Requirements: If compelled by law or court order, we may disclose the minimum information required. We will notify you where legally permitted.
• With Your Consent: Any other sharing happens only when you explicitly choose to share a highlight clip via the in-app share feature — and only to the platform you select.

FlashCut is not intended for children under the age of 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

As a native mobile application, FlashCut does not use browser cookies. We use only the following device-level and server-level mechanisms:

• SharedPreferences (Android): Stores your app settings locally (dark mode, notification toggle). This data never leaves your device.
• Firebase Authentication Tokens: Secure session tokens are used to keep you logged in. These are managed entirely by Firebase and never stored in plaintext.
• Oracle Server Logs: Anonymised request metadata (timestamps, error codes) is logged for debugging purposes. Logs do not contain personal content or media.

FlashCut integrates with the following external services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — Secure user sign-in and session management.  View Policy →

• Coil (Image Loading) — Open-source Android library for loading thumbnails. Operates entirely on-device with no external data transfer.
• ExoPlayer / Media3 — Google's open-source video player. All video playback is processed locally on your device.

We may update this Privacy Policy as FlashCut evolves. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Send an in-app notification to all registered users
• Post an announcement in the Announcements tab of your inbox

Continued use of FlashCut after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
